The memory of a goldfish

No, this is not some ode to an old faithful pet, but more of a lament to my fading brain!

I am very well known in my community for my lack of memory. I am always promising to do something and forgetting until they remind me, offering to collect children, then picking them up on the wrong day, smiling and nodding at people that I have had long deep and meaningful conversations with at one time and knowing that I have absolutely no idea what their names are! This is why this article is titled as such, as a goldfish only has a memory span of around 3 seconds!

Where craft comes into this is the fact that I can read a craft book, love an idea, but by the time I have collected all the bits I need, I can't remember which book I saw it in in the first place! I have tried post it notes with the idea written on, poking out the top of the book, but I do find that they tend to make your pages go sticky after a while, so they aren't such a good, long term idea.

I have made bookmarks, but they tend to fall out when someone else is flicking through your library (probably looking for some idea you have told them about, but can't remember which book I had seen it in!) I have also been very studious and written all the relevant information in a big note book for future reference - and yes, you guessed, I have then forgotten where I put the note book!

There must be some really easy but clever way to remember these things, but I haven't found it yet - or if I have, have already forgotten it!

My children also take advantage of my brainlessness by telling me that I have promised to take them to the pictures or buy them that new toy or computer part - but I am clever really, and deny all knowledge - even when I know I probably did promise but it would have been in a weak moment!!

So please bear with me in the future, if I start rattling on about a subject that I have already bored you with before - don't get mad, just be gentle with me! I mean, I do have the memory of a …. What was it again?!
