And there it was gone

I  think we say it every year don't we? Where did Christmas go? All that frantic racing about, trying to find the right thing. Trying desperately to finish making all those cards that you say every year you are going to make, then only managing to do about 3, so sending them to the people who will really appreciate them.

ondering if the child you are knitting the jumper for has grown at all in 3 years, which is when you first started the project. Making a resolution to make a new dress for the tree fairy for next Christmas (which you have been meaning to do for the last 6 years! ) Artistically spraying a choice few nuts to sprinkle in the bowl with the others, whilst wondering if it will poison anyone who eats them! And finally, trying very hard to remove all traces of glitter from your hair, clothes and the Christmas day lunch!

Then it's clear up time, only two weeks since you struggled to get those dratted drawing pins to stay in the wall, draped swags around anything that didn't move. Taking down all the bits and pieces and finally realising that the house needs redecorating! Everything looks so drab for a while afterwards.

A few years ago I started taking away all my ornaments before I put up the decorations, just so that afterwards everywhere wouldn't look so empty. My husband says this house could never look empty! I am rather a collector of junk and useless stuff! So, now is the time to start thinking of that spring cleaning! I love this bit (sometimes!) It takes me forever though as I tend to empty a cupboard completely first, thus making more mess than I started with, then spending hours re-reading old letters, looking at old photos and then getting totally immersed in an old magazine article about some craft project that I have always meant to do! I tried very hard to sort out my paperwork type stuff last night. The nearest that I could come to some semblance of order was to put all the different things in plastic envelopes and then bung them all into a large lever arch file, well, two really, but who's counting!

So now all I have to do one day is sort them out into all the other files that I have, all neatly labelled with the different crafts etc. ( Well, I did say one day! ) My next project is to decide what colour to paint the downstairs loo….and the kitchen…..and the dining room…..and the bathroom……. and….ooh er, I've come over all funny! Must go and have a craft fix!! Back soon!!!
