Imagination

I wish I was truly, madly and wonderfully talented enough to just open my mind and let my imagination and creativity just flow out and design the most mind blowingly clever things – but I’m not! And I expect a lot of you are exactly the same.

I can put together some pretty good things with all but a glue gun and a few bits of rubbish, in true Blue Peter style, but a true genius I am not.  But I do love to try!

I am the proud owner of virtually every craft book under the sun that I can sneak onto my book shelves without my husband noticing!  I can’t say that I have read them all yet, because as soon as I start to read one, the next new one arrives and takes its place!  But that is where my germs of ideas start to take place, and I’m sure the same goes for a lot of you too.  (All of you out there who are not like this and are naturally talented – please now stop reading  and go and be creative!  Don’t you just hate people like that!!!)  But you look at books and soak up the information and ideas.  You would probably surprise yourself at the knowledge you have actually gained over the years without actually realising it until someone asks you the right question.

But I digress - that is where you see a project that some smarty pants has conjured  out of nowhere and realise that you could develop that idea into something workable for you.  The end result can be totally different to the project in the book that sparked your interest in the first place and suddenly you too are a designer!  Doesn’t it make you feel good? Well it does until you show your new prize creation to your un-craft loving husband who says “ Oh yes dear, very nice” and you have to stifle that throttling feeling that comes over you!

Oh well, suddenly making his tea seems very unnecessary and that new project of making a quilt out of his favourite shirts seems far more important!!!!  Keep creative!
