Light at the end of the tunnel

Every mother in the country is now counting down the days to when the kids go back to school! That will be the day that we can finally sweep up all that lego, clean through, finish the washing and ironing and then get back to the love of our life - crafting!

I know that I have not been able to get anything much done during the holidays. I've been too busy being the local taxi and bike mover. My eldest (14) wanted taking everywhere.  (The cry went up very often that "there's nothing to do in this village and all my friends live in Witney - I'm bored here!") but wasn't getting up until midday, leaving me unable to start anything much. The 7 yr old was slightly better but wanted to join in with whatever I was doing or wanted to know what we were doing today (same as yesterday - nothing!) and could he help (no - go away!) The middle one had been full of wanting to recreate Le Mans with his mates and their scalextric sets at my workshop, but when push came to a shove, he couldn't be bothered! Annoying me seemed to be much more fun! AAAAAHHHH!

I have had my hair cut very short now to try to prevent me pulling it all out! But all that is nearly over! Which is really rather lucky as I have sooooo much work that I really need to get done. I have recently been painting on china and it is selling really well.

I sell through a local shop and she had been on at me to replace the stuff she had already sold, so I got my head down, ignored all the kids pleas, arguments and accidents (unless they included blood and then I would do something about it!) and I produced 18 pieces. I was really pleased with myself and took them to the shop.

She was thrilled and was busy telling me how one customer now owns all the different shape plates that I had painted with a cockerel on when the customers daughter walked in, told us how thrilled her mother was with the plates and promptly bought 3 more!!!! Sort of good news - they are selling, bad news - now need to go and paint some more!!  I had a craft fair this weekend too and I wanted some china to sell there too, so I have been painting like mad all week! It really is a great feeling though when someone likes your work and tells you so.

I drove back from the shop with a chest all puffed up and proud! Then I got home and all the washing and kids hit me again! Ah well, not long now!
